"In 1926, Aronimink purchased the Newtown Square property where the club now resides and subsequently commissioned Donald Ross to lay out a golf course here.  Ross routed 27 holes on the property with construction to be overseen by his prominent associate, J.B. McGovern; however, only 18 of Ross’ 27 intended holes were ever built."
